Clifton Park Landscaping & Drainage Project Overview
On this Clifton Park project, we tackled a range of challenges to enhance the property’s aesthetics and functionality. Our work included:
- Installing 23 evergreen trees to create natural privacy hedges.
- Designing and planting new landscaping around a recently added section of the home.
- Resolving a persistent drainage issue causing basement water leaks through a window well.
Each task was carefully executed to ensure long-lasting results and client satisfaction.
Drainage Issue Resolution
The drainage issue near the house’s corner presented a unique challenge. This area was congested with utility lines entering the home, requiring precise excavation to avoid damaging critical connections.
- Problem-Solving Approach:
- Installing a small dry well box in the window well to capture water.
- Running a pitched, corrugated drain pipe from the dry well box to the side yard for proper daylighting.
- Backfilled the pipe with #2 permeable stone to ensure efficient water flow.
During excavation, a cable wire was accidentally struck. We immediately contacted the service provider to address the issue and ensured the client’s services were restored promptly.
Landscape Installation & Finishing Touches
Our landscaping efforts added beauty and privacy to the property:
- Tree Planting: 23 evergreen trees were strategically placed to form clusters and hedges for privacy as they mature.
- Landscape Design: Featured a mix of:
- A small Juniper tree
- A Rose of Sharon
- Shrubs and perennials to soften the foundation’s appearance
- Installed a decorative fence piece with creeping plants near the patio for added privacy.
To complete the look:
- Fabric was laid in planting beds, followed by river rock for a polished finish.
- Disturbed lawn areas were graded, then seeded with grass seed and starter fertilizer for quick regrowth.
This project was completed in the fall, an ideal season for planting to ensure long-term survival and robust spring growth. Over time, the trees and plants will mature beautifully, creating a lush, inviting landscape for the client.
